After a significantly long few weeks of work Christian and I were able to get away for a few days to the cabin.
A quiet two hour drive out of the prairies and we were back in lake country just as the sun was beginning to set. A stark contrast from the last time we were at the cabin, the lake a solid sheet of ice and the towering trees covered in two feet of snow. The combination of cold air and the empty highway created a sense of peace and quiet that both of us were badly craving.
Chris agreed to make the drive, but only if I read his book to him out loud. Seemed like a fair deal – I got a few free chapters of a great story The Library Book and a chauffeured ride to my favourite place.
After fighting through the snow hills that had piled up in the driveway, we get ourselves into the cabin, lit a fire and had a wonderful weekend.
