July Meet Up – What to Expect!

After taking the months of June and July to focus on just one book, we are BACK! I have been patiently waiting to dive into Beartown with you all.

If you have not yet signed up, make sure to do so by downloading the Yoga Barre App and “booking” the class; 6:15 on July 30.

Thank you again to the amazing team at The Yoga Barre for allowing us to use the gorgeous space in the yoga room to host our meet up. It has been such a pleasure to be part of the wellness community that Heather (owner) has created there.

If Tuesday’s meet up will be your first time joining us, welcome! Here’s what you can expect;

As always, before Book Club there is an optional Yoga Elements Class at 5:15 lead by Heather Senderewich for a drop in fee of just $10. Personally I love to take the yoga practice to reflect on the book some more and prepare myself for another amazing talk with all of you! Come join me.

If you are unable to make it to the yoga portion of the evening, all are welcome to only attend the Book Club portion.

Book Club will begin earlier than normal this time at 6:15. We typically try to keep it to a one hour window, but we have gone over time before so if you need to leave please feel free to do so quietly.

If you are planning to attend alone, you won’t be the only one! So far we have had several book clubbers come on their own which I think is just fantastic. Again, all are welcome!

HKBC is a very laid back approach to book clubs. We will have a few prompting questions but for the most part we just let the conversation go where it may, and make sure that everyone gets a chance to share.

At the end of the meet up we will be revealing next month’s pick before it is announced on Instagram and giving away some custom HKBC bookmarks!

What to bring:

  • Yoga Mat (If you’ve got one, there will be extras available to rent as well if you do not)
  • Your Book! People often find it helpful to flip back through the book to remember parts they wanted to talk about.
  • A reusable water bottle.
  • Your thoughts on your favourite parts of the book, and what you think you will take with you in your life now that you’ve read it.

Baked goods, tea, and cushions to sit on will be provided.

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out over Instagram message or email (humankindbookclub@gmail.com)

The Human Kind Book Club Promise

Every book that we will recommend has the HKBC stamp of approval. This means that each book explores ways that we can connect to one another more intentionally in life through empathy and understanding. All HKBC picks have either a silver lining, or a positive life lesson. Though we know not everyone will like every book, we only pick books that we love.

Can’t wait to see you!
