Holiday Book Drive

I think we can all agree that without books, our lives would be significantly less colourful, expansive and wonderful.

Most of us are fortunate enough to have access to books without giving much thought to the cost every now and then. Unfortunately, there are many of our neighbours in our community who do not have that privilege.

This winter, we’ll be collecting new and gently loved books to donate to the North Point Douglas Woman’s Centre, located here in Winnipeg’s North End.

The NPDWC is a drop-in centre in the heart of the community that offers a safe space for women, children and families. The facility provides programming, counselling and a safe and warm place to hangout in the evenings. Growing up in what sometimes feels like the tundra, I can appreciate how important the work the NPDWC provides is, especially during these cold winter months.

So, how can you help?

DONATE OPTION 1: If you have any books at home that you are comfortable parting ways with, please bring them to The Yoga Barre until the end of December.

DONATE OPTION 2: If you do not have any books you want to donate, consider a small cash donation. We will be putting the money towards purchasing a new bookshelf to store all of the donated books at the centre. All additional donations will be given directly to the centre to be used where it is needed most.

YOU CAN WIN:
For each book donated, you will receive a ballot to be entered to win a free copy of our next book club read, a few other bookish treats as well as $50 gift certificate to The Yoga Barre!

Children’s books are also welcome!

Thank you all

Annie
