So You Looking for a Gift Guide..

We have officially crossed the threshold into the Holiday season. What is that official threshold? My anxiety about gift giving has kicked in, that’s what threshold.

If you’re in the same boat, here are some of the gift ideas on my list this year! A combination of gifts I’ve given, received and loved, and new ideas for this year’s gifts!

TOP 15(ish) HUMAN KIND GIFT IDEAS

1. JEWEL CUT STEMLESS CHAMPAGNE GLASSES

They’re beautiful, they’re delicate and you know they’re going to get used on New Year’s Eve!

2. WEIGHTED BLANKET

A weighted blanket is the equivalent of gifting an endless hug, if you think about it. Weighted blankets are also supposed to help calm anxiety and help you sleep through the night!

3. PERSONALIZED STAMP

Personalized gifts are just that much more thoughtful. Red Cloud Studio offers custom rubber stamps that can be used for wedding invitations, address labels and teacher gifts! They also have custom pet keychains, so I’ll leave it at that.

4. CALM CLUB BIG NIGHT IN

I think the name of the gift speaks for itself, but if you’re not yet convinced; this box contains a pair of fuzzy socks, a comfortable sleep mask, a candle, a logic puzzle and a gorgeous mug. Buy this one or create your own with any cozy goodies!

5. STEAMER

Probably the most underrated gift on the list. You’ll be shocked at how often this gift will get used and how fresh, sharp and wrinkle free your outfits will start to look. Also works great for tapestries, flags, curtains and tablecloths.

6. MACRAME PLANT HANGER

There are so many great plant holders out there right now, and I am loving them. It’s like a hammock for your succulent, and such a nice gift. Pair it with a handmade ceramic pot!

7. EVERYDAY JEWELRY

Sugar Blossom Jewelry has been a favourite of mine for a long time. I like to keep my jewelry relatively simple, and this collection is perfect for that. There are also some great customization options to add an extra layer of thoughtfulness to your gift!

8. CELL PHONE CASE – RIFLE PAPER CO.

Or really anything from Rifle Paper Company. They have a great selection of planners, wall prints, stationary sets, passport holders, key chains and lot lots more! A very wholesome and lovely brand that I’ve always loved.

9. LAYFLAT PHOTO ALBUM

I’ve started to create an annual photo albums for my parents as a look back on the year. These also make great gifts for partners!

10. COZY CANDLE

The Spruce candle from P. F. Candle company is my all time favourite candle, especially around this time of year. Wrap one of these up with some pretty ribbons and a homemade gift tag for a simple but thoughtful gift!

11. PUZZLE TIME!

Recently, I have found ‘puzzling’ to be a really nice way to disconnect from my phone and have a nice conversation with a friend. Put on some nice music and cancel your plans for the night (or the weekend) and put some comfy pillows on the ground. Time to settle in for 1,000 pieces or less!

12. READING SOCKS

Reading socks make such a nice gift, especially when you fill them with their favourite chocolate or a nice gift card!

13. Bullet Journal

Bullet journals have the potential to be anything and everything for the creative / organizer on your list. I recently got one for myself and have been using it to keep track of my annual book list, but I’ve also seen them used as weekly planners, sketch books and a home for any inspiration imaginable! Try also adding some fun patterned tape, coloured markets and a nice black pen to complete the gift.

14. Cook Book

Do you have a starving student, a new home owner, or an adventurous cook on your list? How about someone who is really buying in to the plant based diet life style? Here’s the perfect gift. Bonus! It’s really pretty to look at. Disclaimer; I’ve prepared three meals from this book and they can be finicky but turn out deeeeelicious!

15. ROOTS ANYTHING

You really can’t go wrong with a cozy pair of Roots sweats or a hoodie. Or mittens. or socks. or a onesie.

16. HONEY-THEMED GIFT SET

I love giving gifts that work together. For instance, get your honey some locally made honey, add a couple matching tea cups, some loose leaf tea and you’ve got yourself a gorgeous little gift set!

CHAPTERS INDIGO – THOUGHTFUL

There is a delicate balance between the joy the comes with giving the perfect gift and the stress that comes with finding it. This week, Chapters Indigo came up with a solution for finding the perfect gift for whoever is on your list.

And it’s not just physical gifts! Their curated list includes experiences and outings to wow your special someone.

Introducing Thoughtful – a platform founded in Toronto Canada whose mission is to provide “The simple approach to meaningful gifts”

Thoughtful is an online platform designed to populate a list of gift ideas that is completely curated to the person you are shopping for.

It starts by asking you who the person is to you; partner, friend, sibling, mother, father, parent, adult child, or someone else. Next, what occasion you’re shopping for, followed by your persons interests and personality.

Note – if you indicate you’re shopping for someone’s birthday, they’ll even curate experiences that take place close to the special day.

Setback: If you’re not living in the Toronto area you are going to have to travel for any of the experiences. I hope that once the platform grows it will expand to other Canadian cities, like Winnipeg. Other setback, don’t use this platform if you’re looking for something quick and inexpensive.
