Although this wasn’t jammed packed with the Spy Kids type of drama that my 90’s baby mind would’ve loved, the sophisticated action and ‘adultness’ of this book was one that I admired. The way that Wilkinson writes her first novel, in the form of a future note to her twin boys makes it a fun read and easy to follow along.
This novel was not as thrilling as one would think or hope for, however the story of a young black woman using her charm, good looks, and intelligence to help her country and what she believes in makes me say HELL YEAH to Marie. We’ve all heard “If you got it, flaunt it” and that’s what Marie did… although it may not have turned into the situation that Marie was hoping for, it led to a turn of events that gave ME the action I was looking for (how selfish of me).
Overall, if you’re looking for a little excitement but not too much cause maybe you’re kind of tired but want to read a good book but also don’t want to get too worked up because you have a lot of things going on in life and you tend to push your real responsibilities to the side in order to read the book you’ve become addicted to then this is the one for you! Long story short; fun to read but not breathtaking.
